Better Together 5K Returns Nov. 7 to Support Berea Food Bank
BEREA, Ky. – Community members are invited to join Berea College students, faculty and staff to walk, run or roll their way to a stronger community during the fifth annual Better Together 5K at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Hosted by Berea College’s Center for Excellence in Learning through Service (CELTS) at Berea College, in partnership with Berea Faith Community Outreach and Race Rise, the event raises funds and awareness for the Berea Food Bank.
The event is designed to bring people together while supporting neighbors in need. Organizers say the event’s theme reflects the idea that communities thrive when people come together to support each other and work toward shared goals.
“Berea has been coming together for over three decades to fight hunger, and for the last five years these efforts have included Better Together,” said CELTS Student Director for Community Engagement Utsa Seth. “This led us to our theme, ‘High-five for the 5th Annual,’ to celebrate the care that the community brings. We want to enthusiastically high-five and thank the campus and community for their continued support.”
The Better Together 5K is known for its encouraging, fun and friendly atmosphere for runners of all experience levels and ages.
Participants may choose from a 5K run/walk, Kids’ Dash or virtual option. The event welcomes wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and leashed dogs, making it accessible to individuals and families across the community.
Participants will receive a winter beanie or fleece headband with the event’s always-popular peanut butter and jelly or macaroni and cheese characters.
Following the timed race, awards will be presented to top overall finishers and age-group winners.
All proceeds from the Better Together 5K will benefit the Berea Food Bank, which helps provide food assistance to local families and individuals.
